The Austrian Alps – Quite a Sight!

Gone are the days when furrylittlegnome would get numerous stamps in her passport on just one visit to Europe. One time, when she landed at Basel / Mulhouse, she came back to America with stamps from France, Germany and Switzerland. These days, the border patrol is gone and just a small sign lets travellers know that they have crossed into another country – like this one gnome encountered last week entering Austria.Welcome to Austria Sign at the Border with Germany

Furry’s visit to Austria was to be grand. She was to visit the city of Salzburg. Well, her baby greens never set sight on Salzburg as the city marathon was held that day. The city was in marathon mode. Gnome and her pack were told most attractions were closed for the day.

Then came the scenic drive through the Austrian Alps…

  4. These pictures are beautiful. I love the mountains and the grass … but I also like the way the signs look too. They’re cute.

Hubby had some genes from round them there parts. But being so many generations away – and not sure if any family is left there. Just beautiful – I am torn between moutains and ocean. To have both… *sigh*
