The sun is shining. The snow has melted, but it is a windy and cold “Spring” day in Boston. Furrylittlegnome cannot wait to be inside.
It is no secret. “The Golden Girls” is gnome’s favorite television show. Betty White, Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty, who played Sophia Petrillo, are four retired women who live together in a house in Miami, Florida. They make FLG laugh each and every episode. The show aired from 1985 until 1992. Yes, the clothes and furniture may be dated, but the jokes, jabs and clean humor are things rarely seen on the small screen these days.
Why mention all of this? The answer is simple.
Furrylittlegnome is so happy to see “The Golden Girls” on TV Land at 6pm EST!
Good clean fun is hard to find on TV. I’ve been watching less and less. When our youngest was enjoying quiet time after school (Before TV Land) – I forget which channel had ‘Get Smart’ and others of that ilk on. I used to watch ‘Get Smart’ and ‘I Spy’ and ‘The Wild, Wild West’ too – they don’t make ’em like that any more.
Have a glass of Lemonchello and we’ll clink ‘cheers’ to ‘The Golden Girls!’
FLG totally agrees. Reality television has taken over and pop culture is on that band wagon. Thus, the “dumbing down” of America. The Golden Girls aired on NBC and when the show went into syndication, it was on WE, Oxygen and the Hallmark Channel.
