Furrylittlegnome likes traditions, and she is a creature if habit, which, yes, gnome knows, can be a bad thing.
Like clockwork, furrylittlegnome had her first hot dog of the summer Friday night, and following tradition, as it has been for many years, it was around the Independence Day holiday and it was courtesy of her dear friends Sandra, Stephen and Chloe.
Furrylittlegnome needs to make a few things clear. She only has three or four hot dogs a year, so the first is always a treat. Also, she tries to eat hot dogs from Applegate Farms – a “healthy” brand carried at Whole Foods.
After a horrible subway ride due to massive crowds because of a Red Sox game and the brutal summer heat (it was a muggy 85 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 degrees Celsius), furrylittlegnome arrived at her destination just in time to enjoy an ice cold Saison Dupont.
We have loud and obnoxious discussions at our annual barbecue. Family, friends and acquaintances are always mentioned. We talk lovingly of our dogs (the four-legged animals) and talk about our employers – past and present. The world of politics is rarely discussed because those can become heated and turn into a nightmare.
A few hours go by, and then the grill is fired up!
There would be three hot dogs (on toasted buns, of course), a turkey burger, macaroni and cheese, grilled corn on the cob and baked beans. Kudos to the person manning the grill. Everything tasted great!
